SR. CONTROL ANALYST
CDI Engineering has an opening for a Senior Control Analyst to work on client site in Anchorage, AK. Local candidates preferred.
No per diem; no relocation.
The Senior Control Analyst will work in the Alaska Finance organization as a member of the Operated by Others Business Developments (OBOBD) team reporting to the OBOBD Manager and support delivery of client objectives, including its non-operated Alaska assets – Kuparuk and Pt Thomson. The Sr Control Analyst will provide the detailed accounting rigor and analysis, the management Information (MI) and reporting for client to effectively performance manage the Operator and deliver the required internal and statutory reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide inputs and quality control to Non-Op financial close, review opex/capex WIPs and accruals, capitalized OHs, variance analyses etc.;
- Lead Non-Op opex and capex review meetings;
- Provide Non-Op input and review for Group Financial Forecasts (GFO) – full year and quarterly actuals;
- Assist in Non-Op input into the Alaska SPU Long Term Plan (LTP);
- Attend Finance meeting with the Operator staff;
- Review Financial Memorandums (FMs) and AFEs to assure compliance with Delegations of Authority, consistency with Plan, proper application of accounting policy and GFO categorization, identification of overruns, etc.;
- Review NGL costs and transportation fees for correctness and proper classification;
- Assist in Annual Support Fee (ASF) negotiation;
- Ownership of the Control Evaluation Template (CET) for JV process;
- Analyze Operators reports to identify potential savings opportunities;
- Analyze category spend trends and processes;
- Act as point contact for all Control or Accounting question or issues for the OBO team;
- Higher level ad-hoc projects and analysis as assigned.
DELIVERABLES:
- Monthly and quarterly financial inputs, quality control, and review;
- Monthly and quarterly financial reporting;
- Completion of the ASF negotiation in 4Q2010.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- BA or BS in Accounting and 10+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry or in a related area;
- Experience working with Petrotechnical staff and Control staff from other companies;
- Comprehend and make inferences from written material;
- Produce clear and concise reports with backup as appropriate;
- Utilize or develop spreadsheets as appropriate;
- Ability to filter through significant detail and provide business deliverables;
- Determine compliance with unit agreements and contract requirements;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with client Control and Technical staff and Working Interest Owner/Operator staff.
SKILLS/BEHAVIORS:
- Microsoft Excel; Intermediate to advanced expertise of spreadsheets, pivot tables, etc;
- Microsoft Word Intermediate expertise required;
- Microsoft PowerPoint Beginning expertise required;
- Very strong IT skills in general, data bases, query tools, etc. with the skill to rapidly build understanding and capability in client specific SAP accounting tools e.g. PR5, WR5, IPMS, CATT, MiDAS;
- General knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the E&P segment of the oil industry;
- In depth knowledge of work and work practices within the oil industry;
- Principles and practices of research, analysis and report preparation;
