POSITION TITLE: Rental Technician
DIVISION: Kohler Rental Power
GROUP: Global Power Group

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Rental Technician will function as a contact for technical support and maintenance of the rental fleet. This includes the operation of the generator, power distribution, lighting, and on site project labor.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Be familiar with the applications, capabilities, operating and maintenance requirements of the fleet. This includes: Air conditioners, chillers, air handlers, generators, and power distribution equipment.
2. Must have understanding of one-line diagrams, ladder logic, and be able to understand schematics and operating guides.
3. Develop an equipment list for assigned projects, secure required materials, and maintain an accurate inventory of the equipment allocated to the project(s).
4. Perform on-site project; electrical, generator, power distribution, air conditioner, and light tower set up, operation, and problem resolution.
5. Possess an appropriate set of hand tools to perform duties proficiently.
6. Perform duties in a neat, orderly, and workmanlike manner.
7. Be the point of contact on a project site in the absence of a Project Manager.
8. Maintain equipment, process equipment condition reports, bills of lading, packing lists, equipment inventory, time logs, and other documents in a timely manner.
9. Ability to safely operate a variety of equipment, including forklift and service vehicles.
10. Possess a valid driver's license.
11. Provide on call technical support to associates and customers.
12. Must travel and perform equipment maintenance and repair at customer sites as required. Estimated travel percentage for this position exceeds 75%.
13. Responsibility for compliance with all company safety, health and environmental policies to ensure a safe work environment for you, your co-workers, the environment and the community. This includes but is not limited to attending mandatory safety training, reporting unsafe acts and conditions, and immediately reporting any accidents, injuries or environmental exposures.

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

Supervisory Relationships:

Reports to Operations Manager

Organizational Relationships:

1. Occasional contact with Project Manager
2. Frequent contact with Rental Administrators
3. Regular contact with Management of various levels.

External Business Relationships:

1. Direct contact with external clients
2. Direct contact with vendors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have ability to communicate well, written and oral. Must have the ability to meet and react to personnel at all levels and capable of making sound decisions and recommendations without the presence of supervision. Prior event experience preferred, good customer service/relation skills are required.

Additional Qualifications by level:

Application Specialist I
1. 1-2 Years experience in mechanical/electrical/rental field. Qualified electro-mechanical repair or related vocational training accepted.
2. Basic knowledge of electricity, hardware, generators, NEC
3. Equipment troubleshooting and repair skills
4. Understanding of operation of HVAC equipment, generators, light towers, etc.

Application Specialist II
1. 1-2 years experience at Application Specialist I level or 2-4 years relevant, external experience.
2. Thorough understanding of electricity, hardware, generators and applicable codes.
3. Able to survey project site with Project Manager and determine all equipment requirements.
4. Focus on customer needs, establish good relations and provide outstanding customer service.
5. In-depth troubleshooting and equipment repair skills
6. Leadership skills, accept responsibility for safety, and environmental hazards at project sites.
7. Able to make quick, sound decisions during on-site emergencies.
8. Able to achieve professional certification (ex: refrigerant handling).

Application Specialist III
1. 2 - 3 years experience at the Application Specialist II level or 4-6 years relevant, external experience.
2. Demonstrated proficiency in "skilled trade" area.
3. Able to provide training to Application Specialist I & II's
4. Assist and advise Specialist I & II's with critical troubleshooting and repairs
5. Able to organize, supervise and provide logistics for large complex projects.
6. Provide Operations Manager with information on servicindf-dg
